This 1938 Aston Martin 15/98 is one of 50 short-chassis examples manufactured with 2/4-seater open touring coachwork by Abbey Coachworks of Willesden between 1937 and 1939. Chassis F8/846/SO was completed in August 1937 and was first registered in Essex, England, in June 1938 before remaining in the UK through the mid-1960s. After being imported to the US in 1967, the car remained in storage with a long-term owner between 1971 and 2010, when it changed hands before being purchased by its .....
current owner as a project in 2013. A subsequent multiyear refurbishment included a repaint in the current shade of pale blue, a re-trim of the interior in brown leather, and an overhaul of the 1,949cc SOHC inline-four. Additional features include a four-speed manual transmission with synchromesh on the top three gears, mechanically actuated finned drum brakes, hydraulic rear shock absorbers, black-painted 17” wire wheels, Brooklands-style windscreens, and a machine-turned dash panel. This 15/98 2/4-seater is now offered on dealer consignment in San Diego, California, with its previous UK registration booklet, an Aston Martin Heritage Trust Vehicle Heritage Certificate, an owner's manual, a Pyrene fire extinguisher, and a clean Mississippi title.
