This 1948 Packard Standard Eight Station Sedan Woody is for someone who understands the difference between a car show and a concourse. That's because you have one of the rarest versions of arguably Packard's most impressive post-war designs. The 22nd series was one of the sleekest styles around, and the special Station Sedan debuted in 1948 to capitalize on it. In fact, the Station Sedan reflects the unique rounded design that was different from the traditional wagons. While there's a .....
practical aspect to more cargo capacity, there's also prestige. Wagons were special batch cars not often completed in the regular factory. They needed more hand-crafting than what most normal assembly lines could provide. It's why this Packard cost nearly as much as a contemporary Cadillac convertible when new. So few people could afford them (less than 3900 were believed to have been made over a three-year availability) and they are coveted by collectors today. That's why this example received a full frame-off restoration in 2011 by Packard specialist Custom Auto Service. Everything was scrutinized during the process, including the maple and ash wood exterior panels were replaced, beautiful new stainless for the rear hatch and cargo bay, and rebuilding and enlarging the motor. We have a full list of what was involved in this meticulous restoration, but the photos already let you know the results were stunning. So take a full look at rare American luxury treated with the prestige it deserves.

We love this Packard because everything about it wants to continue to be a premium cruiser today. The high-quality restoration means the straight-eight still fires up with the eagerness and smoothness that established the Packard reputation all those decades ago. They even bored it out for added displacement/power. The overdrive is a rarely-seen feature, but it makes for proper modern highway cruising. And there are modern touring tires behind the vintage whitewall style. It all proves that this rare woody upholds the kind of quality standard that's at the heart of the Packard reputation. So it's not just that you have a rare concourse-worthy Station Sedan, but also that you'll be happily driving it to every event. Call today!!!
