1949 Crosley CD Convertible, 50,100 Original Miles on the body
I purchased this original, unrestored ‘49 Crosley in 2006 w/ 3 speed manual transmission from a gentleman in New York. The Crosley was originally purchased, without the radio and heater options, in 1949 in Texas where it spent a significant amount of time at the Amarillo Air Force Base. After 1957 the vehicle was relocated to Iowa, eventually made its way to New York and ended up in Valley View, Ohio.
The previous owner replaced .....
the convertible top in 2006. In 2007 I hired a professional and invested over $7000 replacing worn interior items including reupholstered front seats and a new back seat, new sill plates, new front/back splash pans, sandblasted rims and new tires as well as replacing a laundry list of powertrain components/gaskets/clutch assy, etc. including a replacement matching CIBRA engine (the original was the last of Crosley’s CoBra tin block). I will provide the extensive list for any interested party. The Crosley starts, runs and drives as it should and the cable brakes are in excellent shape. Everything works.
At some point the CD was painted and there is flaking in some areas which exposes the original paint color. The entire body is solid and nearly rust free w/ original chrome. I went over every inch and found no evidence of body filler/body work.
We took 2nd place in the Unrestored Class at the Crosley Automobile Club 2013 National Meet.
