1955 Chevrolet BelAir Restomod
Out of the tri-five Chevy's everyone seems to have their preferred year out of '55, '56 and '57s. They each offer somewhat similar but also very similar 50's stylings. Of those cars various styles were offered from 4 doors, to 2 doors, and convertibles. Often one of the most sought after body styles outside of the convertibles is the 2 door hardtop. This very clean original V8 BelAir ("VC" code) 2 door hardtop ("1037" code) is a really .....
nice classic that has been redone in a restomod style. It is clear this thing was built to show well but also be a very enjoyable driver as well. The body on the car is in excellent shape and painted in its original Regal Turquoise and India Ivory color combo. The paint is very slick with a nice shine. All of the stainless work is very straight and has a bright finish as do the chrome side mirrors. The car has special ordered deluxe bumpers which incorporate a larger wrap around edge and cross bar which give the perfect mounting point for aftermarket fog lights. The glass all has a slight tint and is free from any cracks or damage. Underneath the car is solid with nice rust free floors that are painted in the correct Red Oxide color they would have left the factory with. The aftermarket American Racing wheels look great on the car and the rears tuck nicely under the rear skirts. It has Michelin tires size 215/60R17 in back with 215/55/R17s up front.
It was an original a V8 2 speed powerglide car but has been converted over to a much more reliable 350 crate V8 and 700R4 Automatic with overdrive set up. The motor has been dressed up nicely with lots of chrome and polished accents. The engine compartment itself is also well done with the firewall, inner fenders, and radiator support all being painted to match the body. On the motor is an air gap manifold, Brawler 4 barrel carburetor, chrome AC compressor, chrome alternator, and polished dual exhaust manifolds into dual square tip exhaust that dump under the rear. The motor is kept running nice and cool with an aluminum radiator with electric fan. The car has power disc brakes with a chrome booster and discs were added under the front of the car. It still has drums in the back and stops well. Along with the power steering the result is a very comfortable cruiser. For suspension the car has leaf springs in back with adjustable coil overs and tubular upper control arms in front.
The interior is finished out in a matching Turquoise and White upholstery. It has a split bench up front and a bench in rear. On the front seat is a removable center console for additional storage and cup holders. The dash features mostly stock components including the gauges, knobs, switches and the bowtie center trim. An amp and oil gauge were added below the dash as well as a Super Pro tachometer. The column is painted to match the dash and incorporates the column shift as well as turn signal with cruise control. The AC is a nice underdash unit with both a central unit and single adjustable vents to the sides. The trunk of the car is nicely finished out and offers plenty of storage space. Instead of leaving the large spare storage open a lid was construction so you can hide away some of your detailing towels, etc.
This nice classic has a lot going for it and was well built. It is a great cruiser and has no problem bringing home awards at car shows.
