This 1970 Ford Bronco has that timelessly rugged appearance we all love from the first gen. There's also a cleaner and upgraded style inside and out that tells you this V8-powered 4x4 may be a true off-roader, but it's also looking to turn heads around town.
There were some nice blues that Ford offered in 1970, but you can instantly see that this one here outshines them all. There was a body on restoration completed in 2022, and this is a later application of a medium blue with plenty .....
of silvery metallic in the finish. Not only is the color unique, but also you may notice a few differences. The hardtop is now a metal piece that's permanently affixed for proper sealing, and the rear fenders have been properly flared so that it looks more natural to widen the area to fit the larger tires. And speaking of larger rubber, this has the right off-road look with the lifted suspension and full-size spare on the swing-away mount. So it shows the right style of a proper off-roader, and this SUV's overall fit is right for having a little 4x4 fun. But a first-gen Bronco is also a true classic, and so the shine of the bumpers, exhaust tips, and Mickey Thompson wheels add the right amount of flair just to look fun when you're out enjoying a Saturday night.
One of the big reasons to make the hardtop permanent is to install a better interior. This one goes for both style and comfort. So the silvery blue returns inside, and now it's joined by a tasteful saddle tan vinyl on the side panels, dash pad, center armrest console, and upholstery. In fact, those seats are extra comfy with modern high-back front ones and headrests for all. We also like the touches of premium wood everywhere from the steering wheel to the cup holders. And you can tell they were thoughtful about the interior by the way they did many of these upgrades. For example, the radio is a well-integrated retro-style unit. And the plush carpeting is done in dark blue so that it harmonizes with the color theme while showing less dirt.
Under the hood is proper Ford power. The 302 cubic-inch V8 is a great blue oval motor, and this one really showcases that by letting the blue block, valve covers, and unique offset air grabber all radiate from within this dark and ultra-tidy engine bay. This V8 fires eagerly and drives great. The four-speed manual transmission gives you firm control of it all, including a low-end first gear for plenty of immediate torque. This is truly off-road ready with the two-speed 4x4 transfer case, lifted stance, and BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires. That combines with power steering and power brakes to deliver a fine total package for the town or the trail.
