We always have certain collector cars that draw attention to our audience each week or so, and this one is it for the past few weeks! This Datsun is highly collectible and has attracted much attention. Read on for a bit of background info on this 1971 Datsun 240Z... Fairlady Z was the name of this Series One. 1971 Datsun 240 Z. Directly from a private collection, this unique 240Z has gained quite a bit of attention. California car, this Z has been tastefully restored in 2017 with color code GM .....
Sterling Blue Metallic with less than 350 miles since restoration. Newly repainted in March 2020, a beautiful example originally from LA was acquired by an 85 yr. old gentleman who pampered it all the while in his possession. This Series One 1971 240Z has the hand throttle on the center console that is rarely seen. During the restoration, 2016 to March 2020, the following items have been replaced. New Konig Rewinds 16x7 wheels, Goodyear Eagle RSA radial tires, P205/55R16. A new polyurethane air dam with stainless steel center support. New windshield, emblems, door handles, headlights, refurbished front grille. Also, the front and rear bumpers were re-chromed and refinished in the cars body color, Sterling Blue Metallic. New upholstery, seats, carpet, headliner, radiant barrier flooring to reduce sound and heat conditions. New door handles, restored steering wheel. All the plastic side panels, vinyl have been reconditioned and are original. Additional up to date, new Pioneer stereo, Bluetooth hands free/Sony 5 kick panel speakers, USB charger. The dash instruments have been all cleaned and reconditioned, new dash cluster bulbs, new half dash cap fits nicely. Clock is inoperative. Tachometer works (but not accurately reading correctly). Rare hand throttle is disabled for safety reasons, but cable is included with the car. A full set of suit cases are included for the avid traveler. New KYB shocks, new outer tie rod ends, steering rack boots, front sway bar links, and all the strut housings have been reconditioned cleaned and repainted. New lower ball joints, torsion bar bushings, new front inner and outer wheel bearings, front rotors and brake pads, front brake hoses, rear brakes, shoes and wheel cylinders were replaced. New floor pans on driver's side and passenger side installed during restoration in 2016. Light under coating was applied to protect under carriage. The engine bay is highly detailed, repainted Sterling Blue Metallic. L28 block 54 was rebuilt in 2016, cylinder head-42 was also rebuilt. The crank shaft was polished, new Clevite main and rod bearings, standard bore Hastings piston rings, Melling turbo oil pump, Felpro/Beck Arnely gaskets, new Beck Arnley water pump. Carter fuel pump, new Japan brand timing chain kit, refurbished dist., new cap and rotor and coil baluster. The SU carbs were also refurbished. New motor mounts, refurbished radiator and new heater hoses. No heater or AC. Emissions and water system through carbs eliminated for cleaner look. New belts, fuel lines from to rear. Fuel tank was removed, cleaned and reconditioned. The original style exhaust system was installed with new hangers. NGK spark plugs and wires. The engine performs excellent and has approx. 350 miles since the overhaul. Drives extremely nice and shift smoothly. The rear quarter side vent windows were fabricated to be removable, a very unique feature for this cars appearance. Front and lower spoiler, shortened rear spoiler and removable rear side vent glass makes this car one of a kind. The car is currently in our shop for underside restoration and detailing.
