This third-generation Chevrolet Corvette has led a transcontinental life since it was built at General Motors' St. Louis, Missouri assembly plant (VIN code S) on July 25, 1977. This is example is one of 49,213 Corvette coupes made in 1977 and one of 4,012 examples made in this color that year.
This Corvette left the assembly line with the following options " power windows, rear defroster, four-season air-conditioning, 350 CID V-8, Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic .....

This example was shipped from St. Louis to Jerry's Chevrolet in Baltimore, Maryland, where it was delivered to the original owner on August 25, 1977. The original owner's widow sold the vehicle after her husband passed away. The second owner was a Nathaniel B., of Henderson, Nevada, who bought it on August 22, 2019, with 14,150 miles on it. The third owner was Corvettes Unlimited in Nixa, Missouri, near the Lake of the Ozarks. A Michael M., of Lebanon, Missouri bought the car on March 22, 2021, with 14,299 miles, then it was sold to a James H. of Lebanon, Missouri on January 25, 2022 with only 14,672 miles as indicated on the current MO title. Current mileage is only 15,142 and actual according to the onwer.
Dressed in eye-popping Corvette Orange, this car has enjoyed a frame-on restoration over the past few years. The car was repainted in its original paint (code 66). The car's paint and trim look fantastic and the bodywork is straight and solid. The engine bay is extremely tidy and the car's body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body.
This 'Vette rolls on BFGoodrich T/A radials, size 225/70R15. Each one is mounted to a slotted factory alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent condition while the tires are in very good order.
Under the forward-hinged hood is a 350 CID V-8 engine (code L48). The motor is backed by a Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission (code M40) and a Posi-Traction rear differential. Driver convenience features include four-season air-conditioning (code C60), power steering and power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows (code A31), Electro-Clear rear window defroster (code C49) and tilt-telescopic steering wheel (code N37). There are also tinted glass and special instrumentation.
Maintenance-wise, this car's oil and filter was changed in the fall of 2020, at 14,200 miles. The transmission was rebuilt on January 4, 2021, at Loveland's A-OK Transmissions of Springfield, Missouri with an odometer reading of 14,207. Dexron III was added. The brake fluid was completely flushed and bled three times. Both rear brake calipers were replaced while the left front one was a newly-rebuilt one from LoneStar Brake while the right front caliper was rebuilt by A.I.D. Autoworks of Nixa. A new master cylinder was also installed.
A new replacement radiator with Prestone coolant was installed. A new heater core, heater valve and hoses were installed. Both upper and lower radiator hoses were replaced with correct GM ones. The original water pump was rebuilt and a new thermostat was installed. The rear was completely removed and its fluid drained. Lucas Gear Oil, SAE 80W-90 heavy-duty high-performance fluid was used.
Inside is a Buckskin Leather interior (code 642). Nineteen seventy-seven saw the steering column repositioned two inches closer to the dashboard to allow a more ""arms out"" position for the driver. The custom interior with leather seat trim was now standard with cloth and leather a no-cost option.
A redesigned center console permitted universal Delco radio options. The auxiliary gauges in the center stack were restyled and the ammeter was replaced with a voltmeter. The sun visors were redesigned to swivel so as to provide some glare protection from the side as well as the front. Chevrolet responded to the criticism of the previous year's steering wheel with an all new three-spoke leather-wrapped unit, which was well received.
Chevrolet featured this new wheel prominently on the front of their new Corvette sales brochure. The new wheel came on all cars fitted with the optional tilt-telescopic steering column which was ordered on all but a few thousand Corvettes.
Corvette's refinement as a touring sports car continued as both power steering and power brakes became standard and new options included body-colored sport mirrors, cruise control and a new convenience group. Cruise control was only available on cars with automatic transmissions.
The convenience group included dome light delay, headlight warning buzzer, underhood light, low fuel warning light, interior courtesy lights and passenger side visor mirror. The ""Stingray"" script, seen on front fenders since 1969 disappeared, but new cross-flags emblems began appearing on fenders before the model year ended. Windshield posts were now painted black for a ""thin pillar"" look and this was the final year of the ""sugar scoop"" tunneled roof-line and vertical back window. A Corvette milestone was reached during 1977 as Chevrolet had built a half million Corvettes since production began in 1953.
Competition to this Corvette in 1977 included the Avanti II, Datsun's 280Z, Mercedes-Benz's 280 SLC, Porsche's 911 and Toyota's Celica Supra.
Documentation includes the original owner's manual, a binder full of before, during and after restoration photos, receipts and invoices, a magazine article, vehicle history, details, original window sticker and copies, spare set of keys, MO license plates and more.
