and original dealer folder Between the Vega and the Cavalier came the Monza, Chevrolets second H-body car. General Motors John DeLorean nicknamed it the "Italian Vega," citing styling with a strong resemblance to the Ferrari 365 GTC/4. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present this lightly restomodded 1980 Monza Spyder 2+2. We are selling this Monza Spyder for a local friend who has owned this car since new and purchased it down the street from us at Anthony Chevrolet on December 19th 1979. The car is still sold on the original 1980 Missouri title! Made at GMs Lordstown, Ohio factory, this car was first titled in Saint Louis, Missouri on January 21, 1980 and is still owned by the original owner. Finished in Silver (code 15), the cars paint and trim are in overall very good condition. There are some minor blemishes visible at close range, chips at the hoods leading edge and the side graphics are pealing in areas. The cars bodywork is straight and solid, its engine bay is very tidy while the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body. Note the sideview mirrors are black. This Monza rolls on Galaxy R1 VITour radials, size 185/70R13 all around. Each one is mounted to an American Racing alloy wheel. All wheels and tires are in good condition. Under the hood is a 350 CID V-8 engine with multiple chrome parts after a visit to Matt Johnsons Performance Center in St. Louis. A PowerMaster alternator, MSD ignition and distributor are also present. The battery appears new. Backing the engine is a Turbo Hydramatic 350 three-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering and rear window defroster. The Monza 2+2 and its Buick and Oldsmobile variants feature GM's first use of a torque arm rear suspension. Inside, the Carmine (code 74J) cloth and vinyl interior is in good, original condition. The front bucket seats and rear bench, plus the matching red carpet and all in good order. The headliner around the factory sunroof is in good, original shape while the three-spoke aftermarket steering wheel is in very good condition. The dashboard comes with a full suite of AutoMeter gauges while the inner door liners are in good, original shape. A B&M shifter fills the center console and completing the interior is an Alpine AM/FM stereo with CD player and remote control. The 1980 Monza model year lineup consisted of a base 2+2 hatchback, notchback and 2+2 sport hatchback; the 151 CID four-cylinder engine remained standard and the only engine option was the 3.8-liter Buick V-6. Chevrolet decided to discontinue the Monza at the end of the 1980 model year and let base models of the Chevrolet Camaro and the new Chevrolet Citation X-11 hold the division's place sporty-coupe market. The "Spyder" nameplate had been used to designate the 1962-1964 Corvair turbocharged model. The "Spyder" name was introduced for the Chevrolet Monza in 1976. This package included performance equipment and some small appearance items. The Monza Spyder equipment package was available on all 2+2 hatchbacks and Monza Towne Coupes (with the "sport equipment" package) with five-speed manual and Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmissions. The Spyder equipment package included a two-barrel, Dura-Built 2.3-liter engine, floor console unit, large front and rear stabilizer bars, special shock absorbers, steel-belted radial ply blackwall tires, wheel opening moldings (chrome), day-night inside mirror, a sport steering wheel (two-spoke), a special instrumentation and "stitched" instrument panel pad with added wood-grain vinyl accents (standard on 2+2), distinctive "Spyder" identification (script fender emblems, steering wheel horn button insert) and Spyder front facia and rear-lock cover. The 1980 Monza Spyder package comprised these features: BR70-13C steel-belted radial ply blackwall tires (with option for raised white lettering), sport suspension, black front and rear bumper rub strips, black headlights frames, black windshield, belt, side and rear window moldings (not available with black exterior), black painted body sill (also not available with black exterior), black door and center pillar louvers, black painted taillight frames, body color front air dam and rear spoiler, Spyder emblems on front facia, rear lock cover and sport steering wheel (horn button insert), black sport mirrors (LH remote, RH manual), rear spoiler and body stripes with Spyder lettering outlined in accent body color, Spyder hood decal, black painted Rally II wheels with bright trim rings and center caps. Documentation includes original owners manual, original sales brochure and original dealer folder. Competition to this Monza in 1980 included AMCs Spirit, Buicks Skyhawk, Datsuns 210 and 200SX, Dodges Colt and Omni, Fords Mustang and Pinto, Hondas Civic, Mazdas GLC/323, Mercurys Capri and Bobcat, Mitsubishis Mirage, Oldsmobiles Firenza, Plymouths Arrow, Colt and Horizon, Pontiacs Sunbird and Toyotas Corolla. Despite GM Head Designer William Mitchells assertion that, "[Styling] a small car is like tailoring a dwarf - its hard to make it look right," the H-bodies were touted as deriving VIN: 1R07AA7142584 This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 22,705 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear original Missouri title from 1980. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Note: Please see full terms and conditions listed below that pertain to the purchase of any said vehicle, thank you.
