The Last Beetles Ever Built!
If you think this is just an ordinary Beetle in amazing condition, you've got a surprise coming. It's a brand new Bug, the last of the breed, built in 2004, one of 3000 to commemorate the end of the line. Besides being a serious collectible car, this VW offers all the improvements as the original Beetle continued to evolve.
You see, stateside, we tend to think that the VW Beetle ended in the late '70s; that's when sales stopped in the U.S., and when it went out of production in Germany. It was already a classic by then..But elsewhere on Earth, the Beetle's popularity continued unabated. The Beetle lasted in Brazil into the '80s, and in Mexico City the Beetles rolled out in late 1967 and didn't stop until 2003, when 1.7 million were built. Mexican Beetles were imported across Europe, although they never appeared (officially) in America.
This last of the breed VW features the basic flat- four but now with fuel injection, catalytic converter electronic ignition, and 44 horsepower on tap. But many improvements continued over time: in-bumper turn signals (getting themoff the fender tops) were introduced in 1977, four-way flashers came in for 1981, new seats for 1983, intermittent wipers and a diagonally connected braking system in '86, a catalytic converter and alarm system in 1991, digital fuel
