This car was purchased from a fellow member of the Oldsmobile Club of America. He is from the Phoenix area. It was he that commissioned all the work that was done to the car. His receipts total more than the asking price.
From what I was told, the car spent much of its normal life in Nebraska. Some time back, it went to Arizona for the stewardship and restoration. It was not a frame-off.
The powertrain was replaced with a rebuilt 390925 casting 400 engine from a 1966 442. The .....
transmission is a rebuilt Turbo 350. Both perform great. The engine has a Holley Double Pumper carburetor. The new dual exhaust has Flowmaster style mufflers. The battery was just replaced. The rear end has 3.42 gears and positraction.
The frame and body mounts were great, but the floors were porous. So new stamped pans were professionally installed. The fuel tank and sending unit were replaced. All lines were replaced. The springs were replaced and the front end rebuilt.
This car is a real-deal 442 Convertible. Body Style 65-33867. It is Target Red with Red vinyl bucket seat interior. Just like the Trim Tag says it should have. It also has the center console with tachometer, power top and power antenna. The glass is tinted.
The interior was all replaced. The dash, glovebox, carpet, kick panels, door panels and upholstery look wonderful. During the interior restoration, the speakers were removed from the door panels. I tested the AM/FM/Cassette and it works. But the antenna and your speakers need to be connected.
The body is very straight. I see no sign of poor repair or body filler. The paint is very nice. It is a base coat/clear coat refinish. The bumpers were replated. Some of the pot metal has light pitting.
The top is in great condition. The pump and lines were just replaced. The system works fine.
The odometer does not function. The power antenna does not extend. As mentioned, the radio will work if you add your speakers and get the antenna functional.
The doors and trunk lock via key. There is a spare, jack and lug wrench in the trunk. There is an Owner’s Manual.
This is a great car to drive. It handles well due to the rebuilt front end. Radial tires help a bunch. I have put on well over 100 miles since purchasing the car. It is well-sorted and enjoyable.
This is a real deal 442 convertible that has been prepared for your enjoyment. It is certainly a capable driver and will be well received at your local cruise nights and car shows.
A lot of money was invested to bring it back to its Glory. I hope you will offer it great care and that you will enjoy driving it. I sure did!
