The NASCAR 2020 Championship - On The Move To The ISM Raceway

7/1/2025

Well if you follow NASCAR you know by now that the 2020 Championship race is moved from Homestead, Florida to the Phoenix, Arizona area (actually Avondale, AZ). Many can question why the move, but being a valley resident I can tell you that decision will be huge! And it is right after the SEMA Show in Las Vegas! Talk about no time for a break or to rest my little toes.

The ISM Raceway just underwent a $200 million transformation which was finalized for the March 2019 NASCAR race. For my money the track is the wave of the future for not only race tracks, but any sports facility. For both diehard fans and casual spectators, the racetrack offers the definitive experience. Nice comfortable seats, shady locations (important in Arizona), Wi-Fi coverage for your Facebook and Instagram postings and more options for fan-driver interactions are all offered at ISM Raceway

Of course time will tell, but the recent experiences at NASCAR suggest that the fans will enjoy a top notch weekend. If they buy an infield pass, they can explore the entire interior and wander around the area. They could line the route for the driver’s meeting and snag an autograph, walk along the pit stops, acquire a myriad of hero cards or get a close up spot at victory lane and cheer on the winner. Each race garage has a walkway at the front that fans can walk past or stop at, hoping for a chat with their favorite driver.

People often ask me how the drivers act along the pits. Generally they are focused on the race, but recognize that sponsorship and fans pave the way for their success. They are often way more approachable than you might think. Sometimes they keep their heads down walking from their trailers to the garage and other times they are smiling and taking selfies with everybody.

If you haven't been to a race lately, you might be surprised what the tracks are offering. Even a local dirt track offers a great night out. Or make plans now for the NASCAR championship weekend, November 6-8, 2020. In the meantime you can check out these shots from ISM Raceway and see if your favorite driver was included.
