My “tot rod” is similar to a kit car. I’ve done full body work on it as well as custom fabrication for the attachable bonnet, a small engine, and a dashboard with steering. The interior is black leather similar to what a hot rod from the ‘40s would have, and there’s lots of chrome to give it that showroom quality. This Tot Rod also grows with you. At the minute, it is a stroller to be pushed by my wife or me. However, as my daughter gets older, we will look into adding a new electric motor and the full chassis system and do it together so our daughter can learn. Car enthusiasts want their children to be involved with their hobby, but they usually limit the child’s contribution to not much more than holding a light. However, working on tot rods allows children’s ideas to be brought into view by allowing them to do things like paint and choose how they want the car to look.
