Welcome to Street Dreams as we celebrate our 26th year in the classic and muscle car business. Here we are proud to present another military Jeep, this one being a Ford M151. The M151 was created to replace the aging Jeeps from WW2 and the Korean War. It was 1951 when Ford got a contract to replace the M38 Jeeps with a 4x4 1/4 ton truck, so the M151 was born. Very similar in design to the M38, the M151 does have some major improvements for cross-country oriented driving. The M151 was outfitted .....
with a 142cui i4 paired to a 4-speed manual transmission, a single speed four wheel drive transfer case, and full independent suspension with coil springs and struts. The M151 was also made wider, making it capable of holding more people or equipment, so much so that they made an ambulance unfit for this unit. The M151 was later conceived in response to a handling problem with the M151A1: the swing axles. They redesigned the rear suspension for the MUTT making it able to take corners better and handle highway speeds better.
This M151 is very unique because of its condition and accessories. This Jeep has a rust free body and fresh appearing interior and exterior. On the engine sits a beefy generator sending 24 volts to the original military radio in the rear. This Jeep has a very nice canvas top that has no stains or rips. Being a truly bare-bones machine I think is really what makes this Jeep so fun to drive, whether you are a collector or in need of a doomsday 4x4, this Jeep is always a great addition.
